Longford - 1 UCD - 1Longford's erratic home form continued at Flancare Park on Saturday night and in the end they were fortunate to earn a share of the spoils with UCD.
The students were the dominant side for most of the opening half and they had claims for a penalty turned down just before the interval when Robert Doyle was pushed to the ground by Longford's Darragh Sheridan. However referee Damian Hancock waved away the student appeals.
It took Longford a long time to get into this game and it took a quite majestic strike from Eric Lavine to spark some life into them when he connected with Sean Dillon's 59th-minute cross. The home side was starting to play some attractive football but were caught napping 13 minutes later when the impressive Doyle nipped in between Darragh Sheridan and Stephen O'Brien, before calmly slotting the ball past the Longford keeper.
