FC Vaduz v Longford Town Vaduz, 6.30Longford Town have adopted a low key, almost casual approach to tonight's UEFA Cup first qualifying round, first leg tie in the hope of flummoxing FC Vaduz.
The FAI Cup winners have been in Liechtenstein since lunchtime on Monday with manager Alan Mathews at pains to convince locals his side were using the trip primarily as a break from their troubled domestic season.
"They are a good side, but within our own camp we believe we are capable of beating them," says Mathews. "We've been telling the locals since we arrived this is a week off for us. A chance for some R & R; to get away and work on things that haven't been going well for us at home.
"But within the group and within ourselves the mantra is "we are here to get a result".
Vaduz, with seven Liechtenstein internationals and players from Brazil, Germany, Italy, France, Portugal, Nigeria in their side certainly won't be the pushovers they seem on paper. They finished second in the Swiss second division last season, narrowly losing out on promotion in a play-off with Neuchatel Xamax.
Technically good and well-organised, possession retention against them will be crucial, says Mathews. "We'll see what they are about for the first 20-25 minutes and then come out and have a go at them."
With Brian McGovern left at home following the 2-1 defeat to Dublin City last Thursday, Stephen Paisley partners captain Barry Ferguson in central defence with Seán Dillon switching to left-back and Alan Murphy dropping into his more familiar position of right-back.
Philip Keogh will anchor midfield with Eric Lavine leading the attack.
