Longford Town will surely survive without Stephen Kenny if Saturday night's victory over Bohemians is anything to go by. Kenny is due to be announced as Bohemians' new manager this morning and he looks to have his work cut out as the champions fell apart once again.
Longford, who are likely to take legal action over the circumstances in which Kenny left, richly deserved to win and caretaker manager Derek O'Neill may well put his name forward on a long-term basis after this super debut.
On the pitch, Eric Lavine was Longford's hero once more. The Barbados international bagged both goals, his first coming in the 53rd minute, running on to an excellent ball from Alan Kirby. Lavine notched his ninth league goal of the season just seven minutes later, this time heading home following a weak clearance from Tony O'Connor.
