Lyon 3 Bordeaux 1: LYON WILL take a handy advantage into the second leg after they came out on top in an entertaining clash at Stade Gerland. Bordeaux made the more settled start but were dealt a blow as Lyon took the lead against the run of play. Striker Lisandro Lopez's free-kick hit the wall, but Claude Puel's side kept control of the ball and when Mathieu Bodmer found space down the right his ball into the box was turned in by Lopez.

The lead lasted only four minutes as Marouane Chamakh equalised. Lyon gave away possession on the break and Chamakh headed home from Gourcuff’s cross.

Lyon’s attacking ambition was rewarded when Miralem Pjanic’s cross was not cleared and Michel Bastos cut back onto his left foot to rifle into the the net. Bordeaux should have equalised after 61 minutes when Chamakh seemed certain to equalise, only for Hugo Lloris to palm the ball away.

But the tie swung in Lyon’s favour when they were awarded a 77th minute penalty after Mathieu Chalme was harshly adjudged to have handled in the area. Lopez made no mistake from the spot, but picked up a booking minutes later that will rule him out of the second leg. Substitute Sidney Govou missed a chance to seal the tie as he volleyed wide.
