LORETO AND Railway Union have still to drop a point in their Leinster League campaigns, the top two in the First Division table easing to comfortable victories on Saturday, with champions Railway crushing bottom-of-the-table Glenanne 8-0 at Park Avenue.
Jean McDonnell top-scored for Railway with a hat-trick, with Emma Smyth and Kate Dillon scoring two apiece and Nicola Evans completing the rout.
Having taken six points from their first three games Trinity headed to Beaufort in good spirits, but they could find no way through Loreto’s defence, while they conceded goals to Caitriona Tipping, Niamh Small and Liz Colvin at the other end.
Corinthian produced a fine 4-3 victory over Pembroke Wanderers, Susie Geoffroy scoring twice, but Pembroke bounced back well yesterday when a second-half penalty stroke gave them a draw away to Hermes, who had taken the lead through Anna O’Flanagan.
Hermes, though, took maximum points from their game against UCD on Saturday, Elaine O’Neill getting their winner when the game was tied at 2-2. Old Alexandra also collected four points from their two games over the weekend, drawing 0-0 with Bray on Saturday before beating Glenanne 2-1 yesterday with goals from Nicola Gray and Rachel Griffin.
