Three points in the last three minutes steered champions Toomevara into the Tipperary senior hurling championship semi-final after an intensely fought quarter-final replay with Loughmore-Castleiney at Templemore yesterday.
After the controversy over Loughmore's refusal to play extra time in the drawn game, there was a big turnout at Templemore. They got value for money, as the sides were locked together most of the way. Loughmore, with David Kennedy outstanding, led 0-10 to 0-9 at half-time.
Toomevara came back and a goal by substitute Ken Hall, in the 21st minute, put them two points ahead. Loughmore levelled, but in a hectic finish Tommy Dunne and Michael Bevans clinched victory.
SCORERS: Toomevara - T Dunne (0-7), K Dunne (0-6); K Hall (1-0), M Bevans (0-2), J O'Brien (0-1); Loughmore - N Morris (0-8); M Webster, D Laffin, P McGrath (0-2 each), P Ormonde, T Ormonde (0-1 each)
