After last night's meeting Clare manager Ger Loughnane said: "This decision was made three weeks' ago. One of the first comments I made on Clare radio was that he would get three months.

"He got three months, no representation allowed from Clare. You can draw your own conclusions. One question I'm asking myself tonight is do I want my young fella to be a member of an organisation like this.

"In the light of what happened, we must go to Croke Park and do everything we can possibly do for Clare and for all the Lynch family who have suffered a night of trauma tonight that no family in this country has ever had to endure in my memory."
