Louth's local duel

Club Games: An increasingly busy club scene sees two county finals in Louth and Monaghan

Club Games: An increasingly busy club scene sees two county finals in Louth and Monaghan. The first of these involves St Patrick's and their peninsular neighbours, Cooley Kickhams, tomorrow.

Ireland manager Peter McGrath is in charge of Cooley, which, if they win, sets up a clash between the Leinster club first round and the second International Rules Test.

In Monaghan, a familiar name, Scotstown, coached by former GAA president Seán McCague, take on newcomers Magheracloone, who will be outsiders.

The counties, which provided the last two Leinster champions, Dublin and Meath, are at the semi-final stages.

Kilmacud Crokes, having stopped St Mark's gallop, and Na Fianna meet at Parnell Park tomorrow with the latter looking slightly stronger in the battle to play Ballyboden in the final.

In Meath, all four semi-finalists played in the same first round group. Trim are favourites having beaten the other three in those group stages, but face a Simonstown team that beat them at this stage last year.

Former champions Dunshaughlin are on their third manager this season with Brendan Kealy taking over from Colm Coyle, who in turn replaced Eamonn Barry.

Narrow consensus has it that Trim will face Dunshaughlin in the final.
