Co Louth added the ILGU Townsend Trophy to their Senior Cup success of earlier in they year when they beat Grange 2 1/2-1/2 in a weather-disrupted final at the Portmarnock Links on Sunday. The final was originally scheduled for Lucan on Thursday week last but the inclement weather caused the first postponement. Rescheduled for the Portmarnock Links on Sunday week, play was abandoned after eight holes due to the gale-force winds.

When play resumed last Sunday Jenny Gannon and Jackie Quinn, two up on Theresa O'Reilly and Miriam Abernethy after eight holes when play was suspended continued to hold the upper hand on their way to a 4 and 3 win. Deirdre Smith and Rosemary Howell were one up in the second match when play was abandoned and they went on to make certain of a Co Louth victory, beating Hazel Kavanagh and Dorothy Staunton on the 17th. In the final match Moira Cassidy and Susan Kenny halved with Monica Treacy and Helen Flynn.
