Using a putting tip from his brother, Davis Love III has made clear his desire to win a fifth Worldcom Classic title at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Love shot an opening round 62 to lead on nine under par by two strokes from Billy Andrade after taking advice from brother Mark that he ignored last week.

Love spurned the help of former caddie and business partner Mark when leading The Masters a week ago but ended up in a tie for 14th place.

This time he says he has taken the advice on board at Harbour Town and was rewarded as he came within a stroke of a career-best round.

Love said: "He felt like I was hunched over the putter a little bit, a little bit open, rather than stand up straight and arms hanging down and square.

"He always seems to find a way to get me putting when I'm not putting well because he's watched me so much.

"I hit a lot of good shots right out of the box and got stuck with my routine probably better than I have in a long time." The world number 11 chipped in twice during a run of four straight birdies on the front nine as he set out in search of only his second title since winning at Hilton Head four years ago.

Andrade finished two strokes back after carding a 64 whilst Phil Mickelson, Lee Janzen and David Frost of South Africa recorded 65s. Australian Greg Norman and Angel Cabrera of Argentina each signed for 66s.

John Daly played only 15 holes before pulling out with a wrist injury whilst defending champion Jose Coceres of Argentina shot a 69.
