West of Ireland update:Shane Lowry came through his first round encounter with a 5 and 3 win over Lee Valley's Sean Barry in the first round of the West of Ireland Championship at Co Sligo Golf Club.
The Esker Hills Ireland international was joined in the second round by fellow international Darren Crowe after the Dunmurray golfer defeated Michale Kemmy 4 and 3.
Royal Dublin's Niall Kearney enjoyed a thumping 6 and 4 victory over local player Adrian Wynne from Strandhill.
Kearney has since gone one-down in his second round match against Knock's Nicky Grant after six holes.
