Luton Town 3 Sunderland 0:Luton Town subjected Roy Keane's Sunderland to humiliation last night as the League One club enjoyed a night to remember through a David Bell free-kick and two goals from the veteran striker Paul Furlong.

If Sunderland have aspirations of remaining in the top flight drastic changes must be made before the transfer window closes on Friday night. They will surely welcome the arrival of Stoke captain Danny Higginbotham who has been given permission to talk to the club.

Luton scored their first after 16 minutes when David Bell delivered with a rasping free-kick. Keane will have been furious at the way his players turned their back as Bell took the kick. Furlong doubled the lead on 43 minutes when lobbing neatly over Darren Ward in the Sunderland goal.

Furlong added the third in the 75th minute.
