Equestrian:Ireland's Denis Lynch finished fifth in the World Cup competition in Bordeaux on Saturday night when Thomas Straumann's Abbervail van het Dingeshof had the last fence down in the jump-off.
Eight combinations got through to the second round where Germany’s Hans-Dieter Dreher set the standard when clear in 34.25 with the stallion Magnus Romeo. Fifth to go, Lynch was up on the clock when coming down to the final fence but picked up four faults to slip to fifth place.
Daniel Coyle ran out the easy winner of the first leg of the Horse Sport Ireland/Bluegrass spring tour at Kildare yesterday with Linzi Johnston’s Concorde mare Uptown Girl.
