CBC Monkstown ... 39 Newpark CS ... 13Inspired by a fine all-round display from full back John Lynn, CBC Monkstown overcame Newpark CS in their section two first-round Leinster Schools' senior cup tie at Stradbrook yesterday.
Lynn crossed the Newpark line for a try in each half as well as converting four out of his side's five tries. He also added two penalties.
Monkstown started the stronger with Lynn jinking his way over after 12 minutes and after relentless forward pressure, Daniel Walsh burrowed his way over for the second try.
Newpark replied with a penalty from captain Jason Lowe and a David O'Rourke dropped goal to leave it 18-6 at the break.
With the wind behind them Monkstown were irresistible in the second half with wingers Ken Casey and Neil Walsh scoring two well worked tries.
Newpark received their reward for effort in injury time when O'Rourke got over in the corner, with Lowe converting from the touchline.
