BADMINTON:Chloe Magee has qualified for the London Olympics in the women's singles badminton by way of the BWF Olympic Games Qualification list.
It will be McGee’s second Olympic Games as she also competed in Beijing in 2008. The Irish player, ranked 44 in the world, was 26 on the list of 46 players who qualified in her event.
Magee was not as successful in the mixed doubles with playing partner and brother Sam Magee.
Despite some good results this season, during which they won the Lithuanian International Mixed Doubles Tournament, the pair, ranked 40 in the world, have been placed at third on the Olympic reserve list.
Joining them for a nervous wait is Scott Evans in the men’s singles. Ranked at 67 in the world, Evans was in 37th position on the final Olympic list, leaving him at first reserve for the Games.
