Golf:Ireland's Lisa Maguire grabbed the lead at the halfway stage of the European Women's Individual Amateur Championship at Noordwijkse Golf Club in the Netherlands.
At a venue which is proving to be a stern test the 16-year-old fired a second round 68 - the lowest round of the tournament so far - and at three-under is the only player in the field to have broken par.
The Cavan player broke clear of the chasing pack with a stunning finish which saw her record three birdies in the final six holes. The card also showed an eagle two at the fourth.
On this form it is difficult to see how Maguire is only first reserve for the Vagliano Trophy.
Maguire's closest pursuers are Perrine Delacour from France (69) and Denmark's Charlotte Kring Lorentzen (70), who are both level par.
Maguire's twin sister, Leona, is well placed on four-over after today's round of 75 to be in a tie for sixth. Royal Portrush golfer Stephanie Meadow was a stroke further back after making up ground with her 71.
Danielle McVeigh was further down the field after adding a 77 to her opening 80. Charlene Reid (79) and Emma O'Driscoll (82) were both 19-over, three better than Gillian O'Leary (88).
