Maguire plans his return

Adrian Maguire plans to ride out today - just 12 days after fracturing his right arm in a fall at Sandown. Maguire has been delighted with his progress and is optimistic he could return before the Kempton meeting on St Stephen's Day.

"I'm really feeling good now," he said. "I've been doing as much as I can, including quite a bit of swimming. I didn't actually break the arm, it was a fracture, so it was never going to take that long.

"It was just above the wrist and from day one it wasn't that painful." Apart from Barton Bank in the King George VI Chase, Maguire is also likely to partner David Nicholson's Zaralaska and Sanmartino at Kempton tomorrow week.

Unless Maguire made a surprise return this weekend, his likely return would be next Monday, as there are no fixtures on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
