BIRR are the only non Dublin club to reach the Leinster finals of the Fred Daly Trophy which will take place at the Curragh on June 20th.

Malahide, Birr, Balbriggan and Stackstown emerged from last week's series of qualifiers - Malhaide will face the Offaly club in the first semi final, with Balbriggan taking on Stackstown.

Meanwhile, the semi finalists in the Pepsi Shield to be held at Royal Dublin on May 13th are Terenure College, Blackrock College, St Michael's, Trim and Franciscan College, Gormanston.

Old Conna's Philip Brennan (4), who won last week's Junior Scratch Cup at The Island, continued on his winning ways when claiming his club's monthly medal on Saturday, winning on a better back nine from Ciaran Stapleton (21) after both shot nett 71s ... Paul Creed had two reasons to celebrate at Greystones last week: firstly, he had a hole in one at the 10th last Wednesday and, then, followed up by winning the medal on Saturday. Interestingly, Creed's hole in one feat was equalled by Brendan Kennedy, who had aced at the hole a short time earlier that day... Brendan Ryan, runner up in the Lord Mayor's Cup last year, used a four iron to score a hole in one on the 195 yards 18th at Finnstown in the club's fourball betterball competition at the weekend ... Former Ryder Cup player Tommy Horton, who topped the European Seniors Tour money list last season, has confirmed he will play in the inaugural AIB Irish Seniors' Open at St Margaret's on May 15th-18th.
