Malaysia has confirmed it will be bidding to host the 2008 Olympic Games. The International Olympic Committee said yesterday the government's decision was given to IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch by visiting Malaysian Minister of Youth and Sports Muhyiddin Bin Mohd Yassin.

On Wednesday, Beijing said it would be bidding for the 2008 Games. A decision on the venue will be made by the IOC in 2001.
