EQUESTRIAN: Harry Marshall made up for what was for him, at least, a relatively quiet weekend by winning the Italian Grand Prix in Cervia last night. The Co Antrim rider was one of eight through to the timed decider and had All Shook Up home and hosed in 40.31 seconds, to claim victory by a full second from Italy's Marquet Giula Martinengo.
Dave Quigley rampaged through the international ranks at the Belgian fixture in Lummen, picking up a win and a brace of seconds over the weekend. The Wexford rider claimed Friday night's late-finishing jump-off class with Brigade CS and then, 24 hours later was back in the frame with two runner-up spots.
Kill Cruise, a son of Cruising, provided the horsepower for second place in the 1.25 metre speed before the eight-year-old gelding Viktor III galloped home 1.5 seconds adrift of American winner Peter Wylde in the following jump-off class.
In Amsterdam, Trevor Coyle brought out Over Time to finish second in Saturday's Grand Prix qualifier at the Dutch show, but there was no joy in the Grand Prix itself, with Coyle retiring the mare to finish in a disappointing 30th. On the national circuit, Paul O'Shea and The Patriot came out last to beat Cian O'Connor and Casper by .06 of a second in the Boswell Equestrian Grand Prix in Dundalk.
