Two horses that scored at Punchestown last weekend look set to make quick follow ups this afternoon. Those who witnessed Conagher Leader win last Sunday won't be discouraged by any 6lb mandatory penalty that Tony Martin's gelding has to carry in the handicap hurdle.

There are some easy winners in racing but for an eight-year-old maiden it was astonishing to see Conagher Leader turn into the straight absolutely cruising in a decent enough handicap.

Adrian Maguire can rarely have ridden an easier winner because he was motionless all the way up the straight as Balmy Native gamely fought a losing battle.

Even on touching down, a cup of tea could have been balanced on Maguire's back so motionless was he and the eventual half length winning margin was complimentary in the extreme to those behind Conagher Leader.

Martin has clearly worked wonders with the horse and although Conagher Leader has a half mile further to travel today, he has already been placed over the distance. Conor O'Dwyer takes over in the plate and it will be a surprise if it is not a winning plate.

Twenty four hours earlier at Punchestown, Ger Hourigan's Sporadic Missile had justified a lot of support when giving Smiling Away a five-length beating with Our Meg back in third and this one will be a tough nut for the likes of Hackler Poitin and Prince De Loir to crack in the opening Vee Hurdle.

Blasket Sound, a course and distance winner here back in April in a novices chase, sprang impressively back to winning form at Naas 18 days ago when landing a handicap by 12 lengths from Minella Gold with Rosetown Girl a short head back in third.

Today he goes in the amateur riders handicap and although three miles on a testing surface is just what Excuse Me Sir is looking for, preference has to be for Blasket Sound in his present form.

The other steeplechase on the card is for novices where Misty Moments is taken to make a winning return to action. Dessie Hughes's string are in good form at present and although Misty Moments hasn't run since August, his placed efforts over fences at Galway last year read pretty well in this company.

Philip Fenton picked up a two-day whip ban on the impressive Cheltenham prospect Biliverdin at Punchestown on Sunday but can make up for that on Avondale Illusion who represents another inform trainer in Liam Burke.
