Richard Marvin is not too proud to buy other people's cast-offs and his judgment paid off yet again when Afaan just prevailed under Tom McLaughlin in a thrilling finish to the Low Green Handicap at Catterick yesterday.

Marvin said: "He is finding his form now, and I will run him under a penalty at Newmarket on Saturday. Tom will ride again."

The gelding has a 7lb penalty which would take his weight to 8st 12lb in the Chemist Brokers Handicap.

John Reid rode a 705 to 1 four-timer at Doncaster this evening. The winners were Emily's Luck Charm (4-9), Moon Colony (81), Henry Hall (3-1) and Green Card (11-2).
