Moravia Silesia Open:Gareth Maybin is well in the hunt ahead of the final round of the Moravia Silesia Open in the Czech Republic thanks to a four-under-par 68. The Ulsterman is two shots off Steve Webster's lead on nine-under-par after again producing one of the rounds of the day.
Yesterday, Maybin shot one of two 66s. Only Swede Martin Erlandsson managed that today to move to five under, while his compatriot Oskar Henningsson is eight under after a 67.
Michael Hoey also signed for a 68, and on six under, he too is well placed for a strong finish tomorrow, while Damien McGrane is two under after a 70.
Maybin is chasing his first Tour victory after being beaten in a play-off in South Africa by Richard Sterne earlier in the season, and he began with intent, with birdies at the first, second, sixth and 10th.
A dropped shot on the 12th was reclaimed on the par three 17th.
Hoey was two under for the 15th and 16th on the way to 71s in his previous rounds and repeated the trick this afternoon but managed to keep the bogey count to just two and carded four other birdies.
Erlandsson, like Maybin, made the cut with nothing to spare at one over par, but had 10 birdies today, six of them in a row. If the rest of his card had been bogey-free he would have charged all the way into the lead.
However, two bogeys and a double bogey kept him down to a six under 66 at the Miguel Angel Jimenez-designed Prosper Resort in Celadna and so the 35-year-old is joint 14th.
Webster's closest challengers are Spain’s Ignacio Garrido (69) and Graeme Storm (70), while England’s Sam Little (70) joins Maybin on nine under.
