NUI Maynooth 1-14 Belfast MC 1-8: Maynooth held Belfast Metropolitan College scoreless for the last 10 minutes to win yesterday's Sigerson Cup encounter at the NUIM grounds.

The home side went a goal up in the first minute when Francis McGee's free was palmed home by Nigel Dunne. Two scores off placed balls from McGee stretched Maynooth's lead to 1-5 to 0-3 at the break.

A Patrick Dorris goal put BMC back in contention on 34 minutes but the visitors were reduced to 14 men when Niall Lennon was sent to the line for a second yellow card on 41 minutes.

Odhran Doherty tied the game for BMC midway through the half before Maynooth hit unanswered points from Nigel Dunne (2), Seán Cotter, Peter Callaghan, Niall Coyne and McGee
