Attymass boys table-tennis team near Ballina in Mayo has been thrown out of the national finals of the Community Games in Mosney because their entry to the regional finals was a day late.

The national council took the decision under Rule 29 when a court injunction was threatened by the Sligo Community Games.

The Attymass coach, Eamon Nealon explained yesterday his team was allowed to play in the Connacht finals in Ballina when teams from Sligo, Tuam and Roscommon signed agreement forms; but Sligo then objected after Attymass qualified.

Attymass will appeal the decision.
