Under-21 Football Connacht Final/Mayo 0-15 Galway 1-5: Galway lost their under-21 All-Ireland and provincial titles at McHale Park on Saturday when Mayo were much too sharp in the provincial final.
The platform for Mayo's success was built on a solid defence, county senior players, Trevor Howley and Keith Higgins, taking the sting from the Galway full forward line.
Galway trailed by 0-7 to 0-2 at half-time. They had took an early lead but Michael Conroy had Mayo on level terms and Joe Dillon put his side into a lead they were never to lose.
Galway's Fiachra Breathnach scored the only goal of the game in the 47th minute but any hope they had was ended by a Marcus Hannick point.
