Mayo eased comfortably into an All-Ireland junior football final with an emphatic win over Offaly in this semi-final at Dr Hyde Park, Roscommon on Saturday evening.
There was little to separate the sides at half-time, and despite a wonderful display from Offaly's John Ryan in that first half they trailed 0-6 to 0-7. However, Ryan was sent off 13 minutes from the end for a late tackle on Mayo's Sean Grimes, and in the final quarter Mayo took control, midfielder David O'Loughlin taking over as Offaly failed to register a score in the second half.
Points from O'Loughlin and Maurice Horan saw the gap widen between the sides as Mayo won pulling up in the end.
