The matchplay competitions proved to be a happy hunting ground for Dairine O'Leary over the past couple of months in Ballinrobe. Out of the Co Mayo club's three matchplay events this year, O'Leary featured in all the finals. Although she was beaten in the singles event by Angela Gill, she won the doubles matchplay with Ita Langan and also took top prize in the Moytura Cup matchplay, where Margaret McHugh was runner-up.

Meanwhile, the golfer of the year crown at Ballinrobe deservedly went to Beatrice Schalks.
