Mayo ... 2-9 Dublin ... 1-8Mayo are through to the final of the women's All-Ireland football championship for a fourth successive year by defeating Dublin in the semi-final at Longford on Saturday.

The Connacht champions dominated the first half and a goal by Cora Staunton left them 1-6 to 1-2 ahead at the interval.

Marcella Heffernan increased Mayo's advantage with a 36th -minute goal but from then until the end Dublin dominated.

Dublin full forward Sheila Cotter was in excellent free-taking form and her four points had reduced the deficit to three points with five minutes remaining.

But that was as close as the Leinster champions came and Mayo advance to meet Monaghan in the final at Croke Park on Sunday week.

Reigning champions Faythe Harriers held out for a narrow three-point victory (0-13 to 0-10) over Buffers Alley in the Wexford senior hurling championship quarter-final at Wexford Park yesterday.

Having led 0-5 to 0-4 at the interval, Faythe Harriers held off a late Buffers Alley charge led Tom Dempsey.
