Tony McCoy broke his own record for the fastest 100 winners in a season when driving Sam Rockett to victory in the JC Milton "She's Finally Gone" Handicap Hurdle at Newton Abbot yesterday.

On November 21st last year McCoy broke Peter Scudamore's record to the fastest hundred by 30 days and lowered that score by a further 16 days yesterday.

Sam Rockett, trained by Martin Pipe, was pressed all the way up the home straight but was kept going in typically powerful fashion by McCoy to repel all challengers, giving the 23-year-old rider a memorable victory.

"If I stay in one piece I'm going to aim at Peter Scudamore's record of 221 winners," said McCoy afterwards. "Mr Pipe's horses have been a big help to me."

At Haydock, a tendon injury brought to an end Suas Leat's promising season after the seven-year-old had completed a four-timer in the Gamekeepers Handicap Chase.

Brought to challenge by Eddie Callaghan at the last of the 12 fences, Suas Leat sprinted away against the far rail to beat Barnageera Boy by 10 lengths.

But he pulled up badly lame after the line and connections chose to take Suas Leat straight to the vet's box for examination.

It turned out he had slipped a tendon on his off-hind, an injury which, according to Suas Leat's trainer Malcolm Jefferson, will keep him out of action for a year.
