Mark O'Sullivan will tread on new ground today as he clashes' with Stuart Paul in this morning's semi-finals in the Carlsberg North of Ireland Amateur Open Championship at Royal Portrush.

The Galway 20-year-old yesterday carved out a pair of 2 and 1 wins over Philip Purdy and Michael McGready. Leading qualifier Paul had a 3 and 1 win over Rory Leonard.

The other semi-final will feature title favourite Graeme McDowell and David Jones. McDowell kept his cool to beat Chris Moriarty by 2 and 1.

Jones pushed aside five-time winner Garth McGimpsey in overtime.
