Irish PGA update:It's all systems go at the European Club as organisers strive to complete the Irish PGA Championship on time. One man clearly enjoying the challenge is Headfort's Brendan McGovern who has overtaken his playing partner Padraig Harrington to lead going into the final round.
The tournament is scheduled to finish today but it was touch and go for a time as over seven hours of play were lost to the elements yesterday.
However, today's conditions are ideal and club pro McGovern leapfrogged his more illustrious playing partner with a hugely impressive five-under 66 which contained seven birdies and just two dropped shots.
The former PGA Irish region captain leads on eight-under, two ahead of Harrington who carded a one-under 70. In fact this pair are the only two players in the field who are under par. David Higgins holds third place on his own after a third round 74 left the Waterville pro on one-over.
McGovern and Harrington take to the course at 2.07pm for their final round in what promises to be an entertaining afternoon and the Wicklow venue.
