Despite taking a three-shot lead into the final round, Meath-man Damien McGrane, carded a closing 70 to miss out on a play-off by a shot at the Dutch Open today.
England's Simon Dyson claimed his second European Tour title of the season beating Australian Richard Green at the first hole of the play-off after the pair had finished tied on 14 under par at Kennemer GC.
The 28-year-old from York rolled in a 10ft birdie putt to claim the €180,000 first prize after Green failed to hole his birdie attempt from long range.
Dyson, who birdied three of the last four holes in a flawless final round of 66, won the Asian Tour Order of Merit in 2000 but it took until the Indonesia Open in Jakarta in March for him to win on the European Tour.
"I've dedicated myself a lot better this year," he admitted. "I've been working out in the gym and also working a lot with (psychologist) Jamil Qureshi.
"I used to get annoyed a lot and it would cost me shots but now you almost wouldn't know if I'd made bogey or missed a short birdie putt."
France's Christian Cevaer took fourth a shot further back from McGrane with Wales' Garry Houston another stroke back in fifth.
Colin Montgomerie finished in a share of 14th after a closing 69.
Green only made the cut right on the mark of one over par, and at that stage was eight shots off the lead. But the left-hander played the last 36 holes in 15 under par, carding a course record 62 on Saturday and closing with a 65 today.
