Golf round-up:Damien McGrane could only manage a level-par 72 in his third round at the Czech Open at the Prosper Golf Resort but remains in with a chance of taking the €250,000 first prize after finishing the day four shots off the lead.
The Meath golfer got to eight under with back to back birdies at the fourth and fifth but bogeys on the seventh and 13th undone the good work on a day he struggled on the greens.
Scotland’s Steven O’Hara shot a fantastic third-round 65 to sit level with Oliver Fisher at the top of the leaderboard on 10 under.
O’Hara had a quiet start to the week before storming up the leaderboard with seven birdies in a blemish-free third round while Englishman Fisher joined him in the clubhouse lead later on.
An eagle at the par-four 11th was the pick of the round for Fisher, who signed for a 68, although he dropped a shot after bogeying the 12th.
Paul McGinley is five off the lead after he five birdies and four bogeys in a 71 but Shane Lowry (75) and first-round leader Peter Lawrie fell back to one under for the tournament.
USPGA TOUR:Pádraig Harrington will need a very strong showing in the final round of the Wyndham Championship in North Carolina to earn a spot in the lucrative FedEx Championships.
The Dubliner fired a one-under-par 69 in his third round to finish the day on four under and towards the back of the field.
A birdie on the first looked the perfect start but Harrington would bogey the sixth, eight and tenth to slip back to two over for the day.
After rallying to make the cut on Friday, Harrington again hit form down the stretch with birdies at the 11, 13th and 15th but it was still not enough to push him into the projected top 125. With the leaders still to tee off, Harrington was 127th on the FedEx list.
EUROPEAN SENIORS TOUR:Des Smyth is three shots off the lead going into the final round of the Scottish Senior open at Fairmont St Andrews.
Smyth had six birdies and three bogeys on his card and is in a tie for fourth spot, with Peter Fowler and defending champion Barry Lane sharing the lead on eight under.
LADIES' EUROPEAN TOUR:Scotland's Catriona Matthew earned an imperious 10-stroke victory at the Ladies' Scottish Open at Archerfield Links.
The 41-year-old held a four-shot lead heading into the final round after a course record 65 at her home course on Friday. Despite the pressure of playing just five minutes’ from her North Berwick home, she fired a closing six-under-par 66 to win her fourth Ladies European Tour win and a first prize cheque of €33,000.
