Bogeys on the final two holds dropped Rory McIlroy out of the top 10 but the teenager will take plenty of positives from his debut on the US PGA tour. YE Yang, on eight-under, claimed the Honda Classic title with McIlroy in a tie for 13th on two-under.

South Korea’s Yang, who held a one-shot lead going into the final day, hit a 68

to win by one shot from John Rollins.Rollins’ 67 was good enough for second with Ben Crane third and Jeff Klauk fourth.

McIlroy, who closed with a 69, will collect a cheque for over US$90,000 and confirmed once more that he is more than ready to contend on the biggest of stages.
