Golf:It was far from plain sailing, but Rory McIlroy did enough to climb to the top of the leaderboard at the Korea Open today. On five under, the US Open champion has Rickie Fowler and YE Yang for company while Bronson La'Cassie and Mo Joong-kyung also share the lead.
Starting the day one behind Fowler and Yang, McIlroy held the outright lead when he reached six under after 12 holes but would then mix and match birdies and bogeys on the way home to finish in a five-way tie for the lead.
It was that sort of day for all of the leaders, with Yang and Fowler also mixing the rough with the smooth while Joong-kyung’s cause was helped no end by an eagle two at the par four 15th, his approach finding the bottom of the cup.
