Amica Wronki v Rangers: Rangers manager Alex McLeish has warned the Ibrox faithful not to expect an easy ride in Poland tonight. The Group F favourites begin their attempt to negotiate their way through the inaugural UEFA Cup group stage by taking on Amica Wronki.

Wronki are a new name on the European footballing map having been formed only 12 years ago. But, as Manchester City found out in Poland in the same competition a year ago, little-known does not always equate to little threat.

"I don't think anybody had heard of Groclin who played Manchester City last season and knocked them out," McLeish said. "That is why we can't afford to be disrespectful to them.

"We will have our work cut out. We are still a team in transition don't forget, rebuilding and getting there."

Auxerre of France and Austrian outfit Graz AK are the other Group F sides in action tonight, with AZ Alkmaar having to wait for their chance. McLeish had long since identified Guy Roux's side as their main rivals, although as the top three go through to the knock-out stage Rangers' chances of progressing appear to be excellent. But McLeish warned: "I think Auxerre are the pick of the bunch but we can't under-estimate anybody."

Wronki's rise to prominence in the Polish top division has been made possible by financial backing from the town's main employer. McLeish had already identified Jacek Dembinski and fellow attacker Pawel Kryszalowicz, the Poland striker, as the two main threats.

A few hundred fans will cheer on Rangers in Wronki's tiny stadium, but far more were at Ibrox yesterday buying tickets for the two home games, against Graz AK on November 25th and Auxerre on December 15th.
