MONKSTOWN have New Zealander Andrew McMaster to thank for their place at the top of Division Three after he produced a remarkable goal kicking display in their 32-22 win against UCD.
The students may have expected more from the day given that Brian Carey kicked 17 points to add to Richard Governey's try, but McMaster weighed in with six penalties and three dropped goals to give the home side both points.
So there is no change in the top three even though Highfield dropped another point with their third draw of the campaign. They shared the spoils with UCC while third placed City of Derry had tries from their Ulster pairing of Steve Smyth and Ian Orr to give them the win against Bohemians at Thomond Park.
Nevertheless Bohemians stay in the vital top six group which now features Buccaneers; quite a turnaround for a club who not long ago considered the very thought of going up to be fanciful.
They had eight points to spare against Galwegians while there was no separating Skerries and Waterpark who finished 6-6 at Holmpatrick.
In Division Four Trinity finally came unstuck, allowing Portadown take over at the top. The students lost out against their Belfast counterparts for whom Bertie Styles contributed 11 points of their 21 point total. That puts Styles a point ahead of Trinity's Colm Morgan on 98.
