Three tries by Cian McNaughton helped Blackrock College to a comfortable Leinster Schools' Junior Cup win at Naas yesterday. McNaughton got all three scores during the first half to set up the victory.
Jason Quinn opened the scoring with a penalty for Blackrock and their interval lead was cut to 18-5 when Aaron Deverell got Kilkenny's sole score. Kealon O'Toole burst through the cover for Blackrock's fourth try and Ryan Walsh crossed the line twice before the end.
Some admirable defending by a spirited Kilkenny team prevented a more comprehensive defeat and they might have had a second try but hooker Stephen Deacon was held back inches from the line.
