The 23-year-old, who played under Paul Hart when the Forest manager was academy director at Leeds, is expected to go straight into the squad for today's clash with Coventry.

McPhail, who has made 95 appearances and scored two goals for Leeds, has found first-team football hard to come by under Peter Reid.

Cardiff City manager Lennie Lawrence, who is chasing Tottenham's Republic of Ireland international Gary Doherty, (23) has said the player must decide if he wants to move to Ninian Park by the end of the week.
