NOEL McQUILKIN has resigned as coach to rugby club Greystones.
"I will confirm that I have resigned but I do not want to make any further comment on the matter," said McQuilkin last night.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Ireland. I am here now for five years and it is time to return home to New Zealand. I hope to return in about a month's time.
McQuilkin, father of the Ireland centre Kurt, was coach to Bective Rangers for four seasons before he moved to Greystones this season. Greystones reached the final of the Smithwick's Old Belvedere Floodlit Cup, and have won three of their five matches in the AIL this season and are only two points behind the second division leaders.
I understand that the parting between coach and club has been amicable, but there was some surprise when he announced his resignation.
