Golf:Royal Portrush's Stephanie Meadow secured the winning point as Great Britain & Ireland regain the Curtis Cup for the first time since 1996 with a 10.5 to 9.5 win over the United States at the Nairn Golf Club in Scotland.
Needing five of the eight points on offer in today’s singles, the home side dominated the first three matches with Kelly Tidy, Amy Boulden and Holly Clyburn getting the better of their American opponents. The visitors did manage to stead the ship with Cavan’s Leona Maguire on the wrong end of a 6 & 5 result in the anchor match but Charley Hull brought GB&I to within a point of the title.
And Meadow made no mistake in her contest with Amy Anderson, a 4&2 win ensuring the trophy will remain on this side of the Atlantic alongside the Ryder Cup, Solheim Cup and Walker Cup.
