Connacht SFC/Galway 3-14 New York 0-6: Galway eased past New York in the first round of the Connacht SFC at Gaelic Park, New York, last evening.
Two first-half goals from the dynamic Micheál Meehan and another in the second half from Paul Clancy shut the door firmly on the New York challenge.
Galway were five points ahead by the time PJ Ward registered New York's first score.
Meehan struck for goal following a one-two with Padraic Joyce. The same players combined to add a second goal five minutes later and the tie was finished as a contest.
Galway led by 2-8 to 0-3 at halftime. After an early second-half point from Joyce, Clancy scored one goal and two points in the space of five minutes to finally bury the plucky New York resistance.
