Kerry SFC semi-finals: A South Kerry side chasing the four in a row and powered by Declan O'Sullivan, Killian Young and Bryan Sheehan could only draw, 1-8 apiece, with pretenders Mid Kerry at Fitzgerald Stadium Killarney yesterday.
Playing without the great Maurice Fitzgerald for the first time in a semi-final in four years, and looking somehow lethargic, South Kerry struggled at midfield and up front, where Declan O'Sullivan failed to score.
Mid Kerry dominated the middle with Donnacha Walsh and Raymond O'Connor while Darren O'Sullivan picked up lots of breaking ball.
Sheehan kicked 0-3 from placed balls and Ronan Hussey had 0-2 from play as South Kerry led 0-5 to 0-4 at the interval.
An explosive start to the second half saw Mid Kerry's Kieran Foley goal within 30 seconds. But three minutes later South Kerry were back in front when Ronan O'Connor netted.
The sides were level when, in the 60th minute, Seán Fogarty seemed to have won the game for South Kerry, but four minutes into injury time Darren O'Sullivan ran from halfway and despite being hauled down twice set up Foley for a dramatic and deserved equaliser.
The replay is next Saturday at Fitzgerald Stadium (4pm).
Scorers: South Kerry- B Sheehan 0-5 (0-4 frees, one 45), R O'Connor 1-0, R Hussey 0-2, S Fogarty 0-1. Mid Kerry- K Foley 1-5 (0-4 frees), S O'Sullivan 0-2, Darren O'Sullivan 0-1.
In the other semi-final, Kerry's All Star Paul Galvin rescued Feale Rangers with a super second-half display and knocked out Kerry's Munster Club Championship representatives Kilcummin in a hard-fought game at Austin Stack Park, Tralee, the final score 1-11 to 1-8.
Galvin and five of his Feale Rangers team-mates are in line for a hurling-football double as they line out with Lixnaw on Sunday week against Kilmoyley in the Kerry hurling decider.
Scorers: Feale Rangers- P Galvin 1-2, N Kennelly 0-6 (0-3 frees), E Galvin, S McCarthy and D Galvin 0-1 each. Kilcummin- DJ Fleming 0-6 (0-5 frees), E O'Donoghue 1-0, K O'Donoghue and S McSweeney 0-1 each.
