MIDDLESBROUGH manager, Bryan Robson, has revealed that he has made a bid for Barcelona's defender, Miguel Angel Nadal.

Boro have been linked with the defender, a summer target for Manchester United, over recent weeks and reports from the Nou Camp have suggested that Nadal is keen to ply his trade in the Premiership.

Robson yesterday confirmed his interest by saying: "We put in a bid for Nadal a couple of weeks ago but Barcelona have told us that they want to sign another centre half before they will let him come to us.

"There is a deadline in Spain for signing players of December 7th, though, so unless Barcelona get someone in very quickly then it could be difficult for us.

"We have put in a bid. Barcelona haven't accepted it but we are continuing to monitor the situation."

It is believed that Barcelona want around £3 million for the defender who impressed during Euro 96 and had an outstanding game in the quarter final against England when he shackled Alan Shearer.
