Finn Harps continued their unbeaten start to the new season with a 1-0 FAI Cup win over Leeds on Saturday night, but were made to fight all the way by the Cork non-leaguers who had goalkeeper Malcolm Stokes in excellent form.
Finn Harps ... 1 Leeds ... 0
The Leeds goalkeeper produced a string of top drawer saves to keep Harps at bay throughout the game but he was eventually beaten five minutes from time by substitute Tom Mohan.
When Shane Sweeney's penalty rattled the post a minute into the second half, Leeds must have thought luck was on their side and when Stokes again saved brilliantly to deny Niel Lloyd.
In the end it took a brilliant 20-yard volley from Mohan to seal the game for Harps, but the only blemish on a fine Leeds performance was the sending off in injury time of David O'Connor.
