A productive bowling spell by Greg Molins saw Clontarf to an emphatic nine-wickets victory over North County in their Whitney Moore and Keller-sponsored Leinster Senior League section A game at The Nevitt yesterday.

Batting first the North County batsmen were at sixes and sevens against the Clontarf spinner and they were dismissed for a moderately made 139 in 46.5 overs.

In a devastating spell of 13.5 overs Molins ripped through the North County batting and he accounted for seven of their wickets for just 37 runs.

The only North County batsmen to put up a show were opener Seβn O'Connor, who made 36, and Paul Mooney, who made 23.

With Thinus Fourie hitting up 68 not out including a six and eight fours at a rattling pace, and Mathew Love with 49 not out figuring in a fine supporting role, Clontarf had no problems in reaching their target.

Victory means that Clontarf, Phoenix and Merrion, who exacted a measure of revenge for their All Ireland semi-final defeat when also beating North County handsomely on Saturday, are right back in the firing line as the chase for the top spot hots up.

In section B leaders Pembroke enhanced their prospects with a comfortable 32-runs victory margin over Munster at Sydney Parade on Saturday. Trevor Dagg was in fine form for the winners with 62 out of a total of 162 made in a reduced 41.5 overs.

Munster also went down to defeat yesterday when in a thrilling finish they were beaten by two wickets with the winning runs coming off the second last ball against Railway Union at Park Avenue.

South African Henrik De Vos was in sparkling form for Belvedere against Leinster on Saturday when he made 131 off 155 balls including five sixes and 15 fours as his side totted up 245 in 51 overs, they dismissed the Rathmines side for 173 with Conor Hoey taking four of their wickets for 28 in 15 overs.
