Bohemians are hoping to persuade Maltese referee Charles Agius to view a video of the incident during Monday's match that prompted the sending off of striker Trevor Molloy.
"The UEFA appeals procedure appears to be fairly convoluted so we're looking to see if there's any way we can get him to look at the incident again," says club secretary Gerry Cuffe.
"If he does we're fairly confident that he'll reverse the decision because according to reports Trevor was sent off for punching an opponent in the face and having looked at it again we feel it's obvious that just didn't happen."
If the move to reverse the red card fails Molloy is likely to face a three-match suspension, keeping him out of the return leg next week and also two future European matches.
