WOMEN'S FOOTBALL ALL-IRELAND SEMI-FINAL:ULSTER CHAMPIONS Monaghan produced a devastating final quarter against Kerry – to win 4-15 to 2-12 – in Saturday's TG4 All-Ireland semi-final to set up a final with Cork on September 25th.

They had led by eight points in the first half but Kerry were ahead by a point twice in the second half. It was a run of 2-5 without reply which sealed it for the winners, as Kerry’s Aisling Desmond was sin binned in the final 10 minutes.

Caoimhe Mohan’s late brace of goals, in the 48th and 55th minutes, provided Monaghan with the breathing space they craved. Cathriona McConnell scored 1-6, Mohan 2-1 and Therese McNally 1-3 but full back Sharon Courtney won player-of-the-match award.

At half-time, Monaghan led by 2-7 to 0-8 with Sarah Houlihan’s six first-half points keeping Kerry in touch. Within 28 seconds of the restart, Deirdre Corridan goaled for Kerry and when Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh goaled in the 38th minute, Kerry were a point clear, 2-9 to 2-8. The sides were level twice more before Monaghan stepped on the gas.
