HOCKEY:THE FIRST wave of Leinster Senior League matches leaves Monkstown on top of the table on goal difference. With three of the games over the weekend ending 3-2, the south Dublin team's 3-1 win over Railway Union has them marginally ahead.

Corinthians beat neighbours Three Rock Rovers 3-2, Pembroke travelled to the north side of Dublin for their 3-2 win over Fingal, while defending champions Glenanne had to come back from 2-0 down at half-time before three goals saw them safely past Clontarf. Monkstown’s goals against Railway were a family affair with Gareth Watkins netting two and cousin Ross Watkins grabbing the other.
